Veterinary Medical College of Peru and Professionals: Certification Path.

Law No. 28740 of the National Evaluation, Accreditation and Certification of Quality Education in Peru – SINEACE – sets the certification of professionals in Peru and indicates that it is conducted by professional associations that accrue to it.
The Law states that certification is mandatory for health professionals, among whom are veterinarians. At first, it was the exception as referring to those who were carrying out veterinary care. And now, only says veterinarians because they are health professionals.
The debate on the topic began with a few colleagues who write their opinions via the Internet, if we were or not health professionals, and if there were, why were we forced?
The veterinary medical profession is complex, encompassing a variety of “specials”, ie different functions carried out by professionals, with most in the field of “pets” and others, dedicated to poultry, cattle, horses, pigs, some as university professors or colleges, in public administration in the municipalities, in slaughterhouses, and other places (zoos, breeding, sales).
Colleagues working in the Ministry of Health and its various agencies are clear about the requirement of certification. Those who teach are obligated to obtain certification.
Some veterinarians dedicated to the care of small animals are asking: Who is going to seek certification? Why I shall endeavor?
The problem is: will there be so many assessors CMVP specialties currently exist? The College is preparing for this, and colleagues will, too.
The most arrogant and say: to me that I have studied abroad … who can evaluate me at home?
The truth is that in all countries where it has been implemented certification processes, the only objective is to evaluate in order to have a quality service, efficient and effective, can only offer professionals who care enough to update their knowledge permanently and implementing best practices, according to development and scientific and technological changes.
Through professional certification, the College will recognize the knowledge, performance, skills and abilities to practice veterinarian.
Recently, new universities proliferate with new veterinary schools, of which we can not guarantee the quality of university education and therefore the preparation of its graduates. The certification would serve to validate optimal training of veterinarians, constitutes an important tool for classrooms and professional quality graduates expected to achieve and be recognized as such.
Certification, on the one hand, protects users by ensuring that the certified professional has the knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to practice, and on the other hand, encourages the practitioner to a constant concern in the updating of knowledge.
Why we oppose the certification or its binding? One can cite numerous cases of colleagues who have migrated to other countries and have had to meet the demands of virtually re-examine their course or pass rigorous proficiency exams in order to practice the profession abroad.
If we are aware that good service and possess sufficient knowledge and updated, it should not scare us order our certification. And if we advance, update knowledge, anyone who intends to be professional knows that college is only the beginning of the first stage of the study, and you learn continuously enrich knowledge, progress, improve, new discoveries , New equipment, new techniques, we have an obligation to know to give good service.
