It is estimated that only 10% of Veterinary and Zoological Medicine students are interested in specialising in pig farming. Therefore, the pig industry will gradually have fewer technicians, which will have a negative impact on the achievement of production goals required for a profitable operation.

The Martha Acosta Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides support to the veterinary education sector, with a focus on pig farming. 

The Foundation is committed to helping the educational development of outstanding students in Latin America who have a strong interest in the swine sector. The mission is “that no talented and committed students should abandon their studies for the lack of financial resources”.

The Martha Acosta Foundation’s goal is to have a leading role in agriculture and livestock education in Latin American countries and to achieve this we need hundreds of volunteers.
