Natural immuno boosters and growth enhancers will be Biovet’s flagship products for the PSA in Canada
Results of efficacy of Alquernat Immuplus against haemorrhagic enteritis in turkeys and the action of multifunctional additives of the Alquermix line for better productivity will be shown in the event

The annual edition of the Poultry Science Association (PSA) will take place between July 15 and 18 in Montréal, Canada. This organization is made up of poultry producers and academics specialized in poultry sciences who meet once a year to present the novelties of the sector. Biovet S.A. will attend this year’s edition, for which it will present a poster on the applications of a natural immuno booster – Alquernat Immuplus – and its effectiveness against hemorrhagic enteritis in turkeys. Moreover, Biovet’s representatives will also hold a conference in which they will show results obtained in a trial with natural growth enhancers – Alquermix – in broiler chickens.
Improvement of the vaccination against hemorrhagic enteritis with natural immuno boosters
“Use of Alquernat Immuplus to improve the efficacy of vaccination against hemorrhagic enteritis in turkeys†is the title of the poster that Biovet will present Tuesday, July 16. It  will explain in detail the action of this natural immuno booster in improving vaccination efficacy against hemorrhagic enteritis in turkeys, thanks to results obtained in a trial conducted in Europe.
In general terms, the test compares antibody titers between the vaccinated batch and another batch vaccinated and supplemented with Alquernat Immuplus at 1 ml / L in drinking water, during the 5 days before and after the vaccination. Data obtained after performing a blood analysis in both groups show that Biovet’s natural immuno booster helps optimizing antibody production in treated specimens. More precisely, treated batch showed titers 9.27% and 3.19% higher than those shown by control group 63 and 96 after the vaccination, respectively.
On the basis that a higher antibody titer indicates that turkeys will be better immunologically prepared against hemorrhagic enteritis, the supplementation of natural immuno boosting pronutrients increases vaccine effectiveness.
Improved productivity in broilers thanks to natural multifunctional additives
Growth enhancers will be the protagonists of the conference that Biovet will conduct on Wednesday July 17, entitled “Natural multifunctional solutions (Alquermix) to improve productivity in broilers”. One of the peculiarities of the Alquermix line is that it replaces 9 additives commonly used in conventional diets, and can be easily adapted to the precise needs of each production stage and each species.
The trial with this multifunctional additive was developed in the experimental farm of the Universidad CientÃfica del Sur in Lima, Peru, with two batches of Cobb 500 broilers. On the one hand, the control batch received a conventional diet with usual additives, such as antibiotic growth promoters (AGP), coccidiostats, organic acids and mycotoxin-binders. On the other hand, the experimental lot received a conventional diet supplemented with multifunctional additives – natural growth enhancers – from the Alquermix line.
Different indicators were evaluated: productive parameters such as weight, feed conversion, uniformity and mortality, as well as microscopic and macroscopic lesions in organs, and microscopic structure of the intestinal villi.
The results revealed that the batch treated with growth enhancers obtained better productive parameters, especially during the first week of life. The chickens also showed better carcass quality and their organs presented lesions less severe than those detected in the control group. The digestive system of the treated group achieved better general status of the intestinal mucosa, allowing better absorption of nutrients and, consequently, a strengthened immune system against common pathogens such as coccidia.
