On the other hand, it should be noted that the last two Latin American poultry congresses OVUM were made in 2019 and 2021. The 26th edition of this congress was held in Lima, Peru from October 9 to 11, 2019. The 27th edition was supposed to take place during the year 2021 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, but was postponed until 2022 due to the current COVID19 pandemic. This difficult decision was approved unanimously due to the various difficulties generated by the current pandemic, including the mobilization of the speakers. It was also sought to ensure the safety of all of them.
This congress brings together the best of Latin America in poultry production during the established dates. There are talks, stands, courses, and opportunities to address different issues related to poultry farming. Some of the topics addressed include commercialization, biosecurity on farms, advances in bird nutrition, recent findings in avian pathologies, innovation in the reproduction and incubation of poultry productions, among others.
It is the first time that Uruguay hosts this congress in its history. Approximately 3,000 participants are expected to arrive there. This event will strengthen the South American country in its poultry production in the international market, with the arrival of technicians, companies, and professionals specialized in the different areas related to poultry farming.
To celebrate this election, the president of the Association of Poultry Producers of the South APASUR, Joaquín Fernández, shared a presentation explaining and showing the main characteristics of some Uruguayan cities such as Montevideo, and of course, Punta del Este. There he highlighted the benefits that the Uruguayan country will offer to OVUM 2024 participants.
