The 6th Global Foot and Mouth Disease Research Alliance (GFRA) Scientific Meeting is approaching.

The 6th Global Foot and Mouth Disease Research Alliance (GFRA) Scientific Meeting is approaching.
The mission of the Global Foot and Mouth Disease Research Alliance (GFRA) is to promote worldwide collaboration among researchers involved in the study of foot and mouth disease. To this purpose, regular scientific meetings are organized, which encourage the exchange of knowledge for the development of new tools that contribute to the prevention, control, and eradication of this viral disease.
Foot-and-mouth disease is a worldwide disease caused by a virus that especially affects hoofed animals such as ruminants. To deal with it, the nations of the world join efforts through their scientific groups to research this disease. GFRA was launched in 2003 as a global partnership of animal research organizations involved in the fight against FMD.
At the VI Scientific Meeting of the Global Foot and Mouth Disease Research Alliance (GFRA), a program with five main sessions has been proposed and constructed as follows:
- Epidemiology
- Vaccines and Therapeutic Interventions
- Pathogenesis and Immunology
- Virology
- Diagnosis
Epidemiology and the development of novel methods to diagnose and control FMD are of particular interest in today’s global agricultural economy. On the one hand, research in immunology provides a crucial knowledge base for generating new therapies and new vaccination approaches. Moreover, it is always considered necessary to generate a deeper understanding of the virus and its interaction with the host to better understand FMD.
Therefore, the Global Foot and Mouth Disease Research Alliance (GFRA) invites researchers from around the world, industry, and governments to join this 6th edition to share their research advances and promote a fruitful discussion with the global FMD research community.
