Paraguayan cattle raising reports excellent figures
In recent days, Paraguay’s livestock industry and the country’s official entities reported that excellent market results are expected during 2021. Estimated earnings at the end of 2021 could be US$ 2 billion, which would be a record. This profit would represent a 70% growth of Paraguay’s livestock compared to 2020.
On the other hand, Paraguayan market analysts explain that these earnings could have been better even if the COVID-19 pandemic had not affected production. Nevertheless, they mention that Paraguay’s livestock exports set a record thanks to the combined efforts of the public and private sectors. In addition, good achievements are described concerning vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease during 2021, in its quest to become a country free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination.
Paraguay’s livestock industry is looking forward to the opening of markets in the United States as a destination for exporting its products. This business opportunity could open doors to the Asian markets of Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
Finally, Paraguay’s livestock industry also expects to increase its exports to Chile by around USD 750 million by the end of 2021. This figure would represent an increase of close to 70% compared to 2020.

Colombian livestock reports record exports
Colombian livestock has been recovering satisfactorily during 2021. Proof of this is the results recorded between January and June 2021, a period in which beef was sold internationally in record quantities. In total, Colombia exported 24,442 tons of meat for a value of USD 98.4 million. This figure exceeded the value of sales in previous years, as they were USD 51.1 million in 2020; USD 34.8 million in 2019, and USD 39.9 million in 2018.
Therefore, the Colombian cattlemen’s federation indicated that up to September 2021 the exported meat was equivalent to all the meat exported during 2020, denoting a great increase in the meat trade.
Among the countries that are the main destinations for Colombian livestock, the first in Chile, which made purchases of 4347 tons. In second place is Russia with 4789 tons and finally Hong Kong with a value of 3625 tons for a value of 16.2 million dollars.
These positive figures mark the growth of Colombian livestock during 2021 and its recovery despite the current pandemic. With these results, Colombian livestock farmers expect to occupy the international market and place their products in large markets in the United States and Asia.
