Biovet S.A. presents a new nutritional supplement (pronutrients), which reduces the concentration of ammonia
As a novelty, the Alquernat Yucca L Plus product incorporates cimenol ring

Biovet S.A. has designed a new version of Alquernat Yucca Liquid that contains extract of Yucca spp. and as a novelty it incorporates cimenol ring. The result, Alquernat Yucca L Plus, is a nutritional supplement that markedly reduces ammonia concentrations in farms.
Ammonia (NH3) is a toxic gas produced mainly by bacteria present in excrements and the digestive tract. Among other negative consequences, it causes irritation of the respiratory tract and, therefore, reduction of the productive parameters. It is important in intensive livestock farms, since high concentrations of ammonia in the environment can reach harmful levels.
Cassava extract (without cimenol) contains glycocomponents and saponins as the main active ingredients. The glycocomponents bind to ammonia, fixing it and forming less toxic compounds. Saponins have surfactant properties and a very limited antimicrobial action. To increase the antimicrobial action of saponins, a cimenol ring has been introduced. Thanks to its incorporation, the activity of Alquernat Yucca is enhanced and, therefore, it reduces the amount of ammonia producing bacteria and the concentration of this gas in the environment.
“Ammonia comes from the decomposition of organic matter such as urine and feces. It is one of the most harmful gases that occur on farms and causes numerous economic losses, “explained Dr. Veterinario, David Díez, in an article published in Biovet dated 26/03/2018 ” The importance of environmental control in animal production “.
Pronutrients
Alquernat Yucca is within the Pronutrients line of Biovet (extracts of natural plants that, incorporated into animal feed, improve the physiognomy of the animals). In the 1950s the English nutritionist, Dr. Gordon Rosen, defined the term for the first time: “They are micro-ingredients included in the feed formulation, in relatively small quantities, with the mission of improving the physiology, the intrinsic nutritional value and avoiding the presence of pathogens. “
Since 1997, Biovet S.A. studies and develops effective natural alternatives in animal feed that allow to maintain production, without the need to use chemical substances. The result of this research was the product line based on pronutrients.
