On January 19 of this year, delegates from the Martha Acosta Foundation went to the University Center of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Guadalajara to award three new scholarships to outstanding students of veterinary medicine and zootechnics, who show a strong interest in joining the swine production field. The ceremony was presided over by university authorities, with the outstanding participation of Dr. David Román Sánchez Chipres, Head of the Department of Public Health of the Division of Veterinary Sciences, and Dr. Elia Margarita Rodríguez Chávez, Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and mentor of the 2023 Scholarship of the Centro Universitario del Sur (CUSur).

The ceremony was also attended by LTS. Yarely Valdes, Mexico Manager of the Foundation, and Lic. Lucia Martinez, Treasurer of the Martha Acosta Foundation. During the event, a virtual connection was established with industry representatives and allies, and Dr. Martha Acosta, CEO of the Foundation, thanked the university authorities for their continued support. She also explained the reason why each scholarship is named after a prominent mentor in the swine sector.

On this occasion, the new scholarship that joins the CUCBA was presented, named in honor of Dr. Irma Elizondo Espinoza, colleague and friend of Dr. Martha Acosta. Dr. Martha Acosta shared personal and professional experiences about Dr. Irma Elizondo Espinoza, highlighting her as an outstanding nutritionist who provided support to various companies and organizations of pig producers. An audiovisual was screened that highlighted the life and career of Dr. Irma Elizondo Espinoza, followed by the presentation of scholarships to the winning students: Karla Berenice Muñoz Álvarez, winner of the MVZ scholarship. Consuelo Arana Flores 2024; Gonzalo Gutiérrez López, winner of the MVZ scholarship. Ricardo Jiménez Rubio 2024; and Sarahí Montoya González, winner of the first scholarship awarded on behalf of the MVZ. Irma Elizondo Espinoza.

The ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude and commitment from the scholarship students, who pledged to comply with the scholarship statute and to exalt the name of their university, their profession, and the Martha Acosta Foundation.
