Prevention of mycotoxicosis through the combination of silicoglycidol with liver and intestinal conditioner pronutrients.

Nowadays, mycotoxins are one of the main challenges that swine, poultry and feed manufacturers are facing. Mycotoxins cause many economic losses in this sector, both due to cereal losses and the negative effects they cause on animals, in which they cause clinical mycotoxicosis, increased mortality and worsening of productive parameters.
There are many types of mycotoxins, but under current conditions, we have detected that those whose target organs are the digestive tract, and the liver are causing important problems in the sector, and therefore strategic plans for mycotoxicosis prevention must be reinforced.
Some of these mycotoxins are those of the coumarin group, such as aflatoxin, which mainly affects the liver and large muscles. In these locations it produces hemorrhages and significant liver damage. It should be noted that the liver is a key organ in productivity, since it synthesizes the proteins that will be part of the muscles or eggs, as well as immune effectors, essential to guarantee adequate immunity.

Other important mycotoxins that are affecting the animal industry are those of the trichothecene group, such as T-2 or DON, which cause contact necrosis in the digestive tract, affecting intestinal villi and the ability to digest and absorb nutrients.

For this reason, adequate prevention is necessary, based on an optimal binding of these mycotoxins and on the reinforcement of the physiology of the liver and the digestive tract. Therefore, Biovet S.A. has developed Alquermix LN. It is a mycotoxin binder based on the combination of Silicoglycidol with liver and intestinal conditioner pronutrients.
On the one hand, Silicoglycidol is the first patented mycotoxin binding molecule, effective at low doses, against all types of mycotoxins and effective at all pH of the digestive tract, exclusively specific for binding mycotoxins, while it does not adsorb nutrients, such as vitamins or amino acids. These characteristics guarantee that all types of mycotoxins are adsorbed properly.
On the other hand, liver conditioner pronutrients promote adequate liver regeneration and the optimization of its synthesis and detoxification functions, and intestinal conditioners increase the regeneration rate of enterocytes, strengthen tight junctions, and increase nutrient absorption, such as vitamins and amino acids.
With this triple approach, mycotoxin damage is prevented, and their main target organs are stimulated. Currently, field trials are being carried out with Alquermix LN with very promising results, helping in the prevention of the main mycotoxicosis.
