In the third week of June, exports were strong for some products in the U.S. agricultural market, according to USDA. On the one hand, soybean crop sales were a success and were mainly destined for China. The Asian giant bought approximately 1.1 million tons. On the other hand, pork exports also registered positive figures. The main buyer of U.S. pork was Mexico, which purchased more than half of all exports.
Other products such as corn, sorghum, wheat, rice, and beef had lower export values for the United States compared to the second week of June. In the case of wheat, the export season started recently, on June 1. In contrast, products such as beef and pork are exported throughout the year in a balanced manner.
Pork and beef meat exports in June
The amount of beef meat sold by the United States reached 12,100 tons for the third week of June. This value represented 28% less than exports in the second week of June and 17% less than the average for the entire month. Among the most prominent buyers of beef were Japan with 3,300 tons, South Korea with 2,800 tons, China with 2,100 tons, and Taiwan and Canada. In addition, the net quantity of beef exported showed positive figures for the United States. In the third week of June, the United States shipped 18,900 tons mainly to Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Mexico.

Additionally, 28,600 tons of pork meat were sold, which was 12% higher than the average for June. Among the most important buyers were Mexico, Japan, Canada, Colombia, and China. In terms of meat shipments, 32,200 tons were sent to Mexico, China, Japan, South Korea, and Canada. This meat product was the one with the best figures during June, showing an excellent performance in the international market. In recent weeks, the reopening of markets and the increase in demand for pork have favored pork production.
Grain market during June
The United States is a recognized exporter of various grains worldwide, occupying the first position in the production of several of them. For the third week of June, it exported 226,300 tons of wheat. The two main buyers were Japan and Mexico. This crop stands out because the sales campaign began at the beginning of June this year.
On the other hand, the United States sold 15,000 tons of corn, which was 93% lower than in the previous week. The main reason for this decrease in corn exports is explained by order cancellations by buyer countries, such as China. Among the main corn buyers were Japan and Mexico.
The product that showed the best export performance was soybeans and derivatives such as flour and oil. Exported soybean crops accounted for 92,800 tons, which was 62% more than the average of the last four weeks. The main buyers of soybean crops were China with 31,200 tons and Canada with 19,800 tons. U.S. soybean sales were 1,167,100 tons, mostly purchased by China. As for soybean flour, the United States exported 232,800 MT, 1% more than the average of the last four weeks. The main destination for soybean flour was Vietnam.
Finally, exported soybean oil accounted for 2,300 tons, 6% more than the annual average. Mexico was the largest buyer with almost half of the soybean oil exported.
