The National Swine Congress of Mexico OPORMEX will be held from 4 to 7 May, 2022 at the Convention Center Barceló Hotel, Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo.

The National Swine Congress 2022 is being organized by the new Organización de Porcicultores Mexicanos (OPORMEX). Opormex was born last year, in 2020, when they decided to join the Confederación de Porcicultores Mexicanos (CPM) and the Organización de Porcicultores del País (OPORPA).

The creation of Opormex seeks to promote more efficient and sustainable pig production systems. Besides, Opormex searches to create programs that train and promote the welfare of producers and animal health. On the other hand, Opormex promotes methodologies such as certification and technological innovation in all stages of pig production. All these efforts are planned to launch Mexico as one of the largest pig producers in the region.

The president of the Mexican Swine Organization (Opormex), Heriberto Hernández Cárdenas, said that the COVID19 pandemic has affected the plans of the congress. For this reason, taking care of the safety of exhibitors and attendees, they have decided that the 2021 version of the congress will be virtual.

Online activities for Opormex 2021

Likewise, the president of Opormex, in a letter of February 9, 2021, explained that for the current year virtual activities will be carried out. Heriberto Hernandez has urged to follow the social media of Opormex where they will expand this information soon.

On the other hand, it is planned that the National Swine Congress will complete the consolidation of the National Swine Institute which, according to the words of the president of Opormex, “aims to promote the benefits of pork”.

The National Swine Congress of Opormex is also a strong strategy to consolidate the pig farming sector in Latin America. The COVID19 pandemic has affected the production and trade of pig products. This event aims to generate strategies that achieve a new increase in pig production rates in Mexico.

The organization of the National Swine Congress expects to present multiple activities. Besides, it expects a capacity of approximately 1400 people and the participation of 50 companies. The duration of the event will be a total of 4 days full of must-see activities and great opportunities.
