In a ceremony held on February 27, Dr. Manuel Rosemberg Barrón took office as the new rector of the Scientific University of the South (UCSUR) -Peru. In his professional career Rosemberg has been responsible for the direction of the career of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny and the career of Aquaculture Engineering since 2015. In addition, he has been academic vice-rector and dean of the Faculty of Veterinary and Biological Sciences, as well as professor at the National Agrarian University La Molina.

During the ceremony, Dr. Josefina Takahashi, who held that position, was named rector emeritus of UCSUR, in recognition of her outstanding work. Biologist by profession, PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Birmingham and Master in Agronomy from the National Agrarian University.

During his professional career, Dr. Rosemberg has participated, among other activities, in the reorganization of the Universidad Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo de Ancash, the project and implementation of the Laboratory Research Center of the Faculty of Zootechnics of the National Agrarian University, the preparation of the National Livestock Plan, the elimination of the IGV (General Sales Tax) to live animals and the publication of his book “Producción de Ganado de Carne y de Doble Propósito” (Production of Beef Cattle and Dual Purpose) in 2000, support by Concytec (National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation)

On the other hand, Dr. Rosemberg is consultant and adviser on livestock issues and researcher in Andean Livestock, Tropical Livestock and Peruvian Paso Horse.
