A technical team of Biovet S.A. Laboratories visited the main vertical integration companies in Bangladesh at the beginning of October. On this occasion, the meetings focused on highlighting the importance of incorporating botanical products into feed that are used for poultry and fish feed.

The representative of the technical team of Biovet SA, Dr. David Díez, explained that “during the meetings the positive effects on health and the productive parameters of birds and fish were explored with the use of additives of botanical source, manufactured by Biovet SA: Alquermold Natural (preservative), Alquernat Zycox (intestinal optimizer pronutrients) and Alquernat Nebsui (intestinal conditioner pronutrients), among others.

Vertical integration occurs when one company outright owns two or more stages of production; in the case of poultry companies, they range from the manufacture of feed or incubators, to the production of 1-day-old chickens; In the case of aquaculture, they range from the manufacture of fish feed, to fattening and processing.

NATURAL PRESERVATIVE

Due to the weather conditions of Bangladesh (due to its high temperatures and humidity), the Alquermold Natural preservative is “the best alternative to inhibit the growth of microorganisms against other products such as acidifiers or organic acids”, said the veterinarian of Biovet S.A.

It is a feed additive of botanical source with double activity: on the one hand, it is a preservative of raw material and compound feed, and on the other,it is an antimicrobial with bactericidal and fungicidal activity,thanks to the synergy of the cimenol ring and the citric acid. Its effects include control the pathogenic flora of the intestine, such as: Salmonella, E. coli, Clostridium spp. o Staphylococcus sp.

PRONUTRIENTS

Regarding the line of pronutrients (extracts of botanical source that, added to feed, improve the physiology of animals), Dr. Díez emphasized the use of Alquernat Zycox for “the prevention of coccidia problems that exist in the country, thanks to its mechanism of action, since it enhances the local immunity of the intestine and allows it to break effectively the cycle of coccidia, without generating resistance, and without the need to use dual programs (with other coccidiostats)â€�.

On the other hand, Alquernat Nebsui (based on intestinal conditioner pronutrients) is able to regenerate the intestinal mucosa and, therefore, improve the intestinal absorption of poultry and fish, which favors the absorption of nutrients and, therefore, improves the productive parameters.
