Necrotic enteritis in broiler

In this clinical case, we can observe reddish lesions present in the duodenum and ileum, that are compatible with haemorrhages and necrotic foci caused by Clostridium perfringens. There are several factors that may predispose the overgrowth of Clostridium perfringens and the necrotic enteritis outbreak, such as enzyme deficiency, excess undigested protein in the gut, coccidiosis, and sesquiterpene group mycotoxins (such as trichothecenes).
