Coccidiosis by Eimeria mitis preferentially affects the distal portion of the small intestine, as it can be seen in the picture. In many cases it occurs in joint infestations with Eimeria brunetti and Eimeria acervulina, and tends to be a predisposing factor to bacterial infections. Its differential diagnosis is important in case of coccidiosis and recurrent diarrhea.
