Use of pronutrients to improve egg hatchability rate in rainbow trout
The use of a combination of pronutrients with vitamins and amino acids allows to improve the egg hatchability rate in rainbow trout.

Introduction
Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is one of the main freshwater species produced in aquaculture worldwide.
In aquaculture it is important to ensure the reproductive capacity of females and the viability of the eggs. There are many factors, such as stress, water quality or animal management that can affect egg hatchability.
Pronutrients are active molecules of botanical origin that act at the metagenetic level optimizing the physiological functioning of the different organs. The combination of these pronutrients together with essential vitamins and amino acids improves the overall condition of breeders and, therefore, their reproductive performance.
Objective
Evaluate the effect of the combination of different pronutrients, with vitamins and amino acids on the egg hatchability rate in rainbow trout.
Material and methods
The trial was conducted with 4,500 rainbow trout females divided in the following experimental groups.
- Control group: farm standard diet.
- Pronutrients group: standard diet with pronutrients, vitamins and amino acids administered in feed continuously at a dose of 5 ml/kg.
The egg hatchability rate was assessed in both experimental groups.
Results
The egg hatchability rate of females in the control group was 15-20%, while for females supplemented with a combination of pronutrients, vitamins and amino acids, egg hatchability rate reached 40%, which means a 100% increase in the egg hatchability rate.

Conclusion
The use of a combination of pronutrients with vitamins and amino acids allows to improve the egg hatchability rate in rainbow trout.
These pronutrients improve intestinal health, optimize the immune response, and ensure liver function of rainbow trout breeders, improving their overall condition. All this, together with essential vitamins and amino acids, allows females to produce higher quality eggs with better hatchability rate, which has a direct impact on the economic performance of farms.
