Study of the efficacy of intestinal optimizer pronutrients to control the presentation of coccidiosis in broilers in different climatic seasons
The research consisted of three trials in Panama, each of them located in different climatic conditions

INTRODUCTION
In 2004 in Panama, the ability of intestinal optimizer pronutrients to control the presentation of coccidiosis in different climatic seasons was evaluated. For the study, 3 different trials were established with different climatic conditions in each one, and the necessary parameters to obtain the efficiency index were evaluated. Finally, the efficiency index obtained using the pronutrients was compared with the historical one of the farm.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study was carried out by conducting 3 trials in Panama, with a total of 6 groups of animals in the study, 2 for each trial or climatic condition.
The animals of each group were treated with intestinal optimizer pronutrients at a dose of 0.5 kg/ton of feed, throughout the productive cycle (between days 0-47).
EVALUATED PARAMETERS
The following productive parameters were evaluated:
- % Mortality
- Average weight
- Feed conversion rate
The aim of evaluating these productive parameters was to obtain the efficiency index and be able to compare it with the historical one of the farm.
RESULTS
First trial: dry season
The efficiency index obtained in the study (273) is better than the normal efficiency index of the farm (210).
Second trial: dry season
The efficiency index obtained in the study (299) is better than the efficiency index of the farm (210)
Third trial: rainy season
The efficiency index obtained in the study (283) is better than the normal efficiency index of the farm (210)
CONCLUSIONS AT THE END OF THE TRIAL
- Intestinal optimizer pronutrients improve the efficiency index significantly in both seasons.
- These pronutrients, therefore, manage to prevent coccidiosis even in rainy seasons when the infestation pressure is higher.
- That means that with the use of intestinal optimizer pronutrients a greater productive performance is achieved.
This product based on intestinal optimizer pronutrients is commercially available under the name Alquernat Zycox, manufactured by Biovet S.A.
