Soft-shelled eggs by adenovirus: Type III adenovirus is the cause for the egg drop syndrome (EDS), which produces a rapid drop in egg production, as well as the presence of irregular, shell-cracked or shell-less eggs, such as the ones in the picture, called soft-shelled eggs. Infectious bronchitis and other alterations of the mineral metabolism can also produce this type of eggs.
