Orangeish feces caused by trichothecenes: These mycotoxins cause necrosis by contact in the gut mucosa, where there is defoliation of the epithelium and villi loss, which form an orangish jelly that can be observed in the feces. Differently from the presence of blood in the feces by other causes, blood caused by trichothecenes is separated from the feces or appears only in specific areas of the dejections, as observed in the picture. Additionally, the cause can be confirmed in the necropsies by observing the characteristic lesion by trichothecenes (image in the right).
