(1) Dogs have five pairs of mammary glands in the lower part of the thorax, abdomen, and inguinal area.

(2) The epithelial cells inside the mammary alveoli are in charge of milk synthesis, while the myoepithelial cells of the alveoli are responsible for milk secretion. The maternal body condition directly influences this process.

(4) A trial was conducted with Naturbalance-G added in the feed of lactating mother Rottweilers (two groups of four mothers with six puppies, three males and three females, each) from the day of parturition to 4 weeks postpartum.

(5) The results indicate that from an average birth weight of 417 BWG, the puppies of the N-G group weighed 874 BWG, while the control group weighed 660 BWG at week 1. At week 2, the N-G group weighed 1405 BWG, and the control group 930 BWG. At week 3, the puppies of the N-G group weighed 1952 BWG, and the control group 1320 BWG.

At week 4, the puppies of the N-G group weighed 2930 BWG, while the control group weighed 2298 BWG.
