Evaluate the efficacy of a product composed of cimenol ring and citric acid to treat a necrotic enteritis outbreak in a broilers farm.
Materials and methods
A trial was conducted in a farm with 19000 broilers. Treatment with cimenol-based product started on day 16, after diagnosing an NE outbreak, and was administered continuously for 5 days (until day 21) at 1 ml/l. Mortality was evaluated daily throughout the whole productive period.
Necrotic enteritis outbreak caused an increase in mortality. On the third day with cimenol, mortality started to decrease reaching almost a 70% reduction at day 5 of treatment.
This shows that this cimenol-based product in drinking water is useful to treat necrotic enteritis outbreaks in broilers. This cimenol-based product is marketed under the commercial name Alquermold Natural L, by Biovet, S.A.
