Rectal prolapse in pigs

Frequently, prolapses occur as a result of constipation in pregnant or recently farrowing sows. To avoid this problem, it is necessary to improve the access of the pigs to water, mechanically reduce the prolapse, administer injected penicillin, and if the tendency to prolapse persists, discard the sow, not keep its progeny as future breeders, and replace the sow for another one that is starting the reproductive cycle.
