Gizzard lesions by trichothecenes

Trichothecenes are mycotoxins from sesquiterpene group and are produced by fungi of the Fusarium genus. They cause necrosis when contact animal tissues. In the image, necrosis can be seen in the corneal layer of the gizzard. To confirm the diagnosis, lesions should be observed in duodenum and oral cavity, since contaminated feed also contact these locations and cause lesions.
