Editorial 25: The Social Pact at Work.
Ethologists consider work in humans evolved as a substitute for primitive hunting and gathering activities. The early human groups organized departures of hunting and gathering in groups and when they returned to the settlement shared, part of the fruits of departure, those who by reason of social organization, illness or age were unable to participate in the activity. So work in ethology, besides having an individual sense (personal enjoyment of what is obtained) also has a clear social component (shared with other members of society the fruits of labor).
However in recent times is being presented, in some countries, with increasing intensity clear disinterest in work and even the use of state protection structure for their livelihoods. We will point out some recent examples from the media:
1. In the same issue of the newspaper we can read, in the same winter day, the two news. “feat work under zero” and “the intense cold failed with the celebration of the festival” The message is transparent in the same climatic conditions work is a feat for its great difficulty and partying is a joy.
2. 3. So finally it comes to the authorities. Let’s see then what happens to depository authorities called social pact that allows us to live in peace and that is that citizens renounce exercise our right to justice, the enjoyment of certain personal property in exchange for the state to do justice and administered properly. If the State fails us in this, everything else is secondary and leaves to justify their existence; the social contract is broken. “In recent months, extending citizens feel that the use of public money is inadequate, that justice and social protection are inequitable and that the social pact is used to benefit a few at the expense of many.
When the feeling among the public that the social contract is broken spreads, the social aspect of work also is broken and every citizen working only portion of the personal enjoyment of what is obtained for their own work or by other protection mechanisms. The difference is that in the principles of human organization the contribution was voluntary and now is performed by state obligation equivalent, at present, to deliver care roost by the fox. Citizens react to a public perversion and behave in ways contrary to indicating ethology and states, especially Europeans, should review its performance for citizens to return to interest in work well done and the voluntary to share portion of the benefits of working with others through social protection governed from the public or from the private in the opinion of each one.
