Avian septicemia and petechiae in the fat: Septicemia in birds is very frequent because they lack of regional lymph nodes. This is compensated with a high body temperature to control microorganisms, which makes the incubation periods of several diseases that cause septicemia much longer, of approximately two weeks. Therefore, when there is a septicemia, in the necropsy, it is usual to observe petechiae in the fat before the birds show any symptomatology.
