Ascites in broilers
Ascites isn't a pathology
Ascites in broilers. Ascites isn't a pathology, but a lesion derived from other pathologies that cause arterial hypertension, especially in liver and kidney. The origins are such as lack of oxygen (altitude sickness in mountain farms), accumulation of chemical antioxidants derived from feed fats, pneumonia, accumulation of hepatic toxins (ochratoxin, furans) or virosis (infectious bronchitis).
The clinician has to identify other lesions and create a triad to reach a clinical diagnosis in the farm.
