After the ban on antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) in certain countries and the rethinking of their use by consumers, there are new instruments in the market, such as certain nutritional additives whose properties would resemble those of the antibiotic growth promoters but without negative effects on health.

Objective

The effect of a nutritional additive of a natural origin has been tested on several production parameters at doses of 300 mg and 150 g per kg of live weight/day, administered orally for 42 days in a broiler farm. It is a product that contains active components to enhance diet digestibility by the improvement of nutrient absorption and help to maintain intestinal integrity, which it is also useful for the control of pathogenic flora.

Conclusions

With the use of this nutritional supplement with growth promoting effect, mortality decreased by 1.67%, intestinal relative weight (relative to alive weight) was reduced by 0.46%, feed conversion rate improved by 7.12% and the efficiency index improved by 8.31%.

This means that, every 1,000,000 chickens using this product,  a farm can save 357.43 tonnes of feed.
