Normal oviducts and non-calcified eggsÂ
Mineral deposition on the external egg layer takes place in the oviduct. However, the success of this process does not exclusively depend on the status of the oviduct. In a higher percentage, failure takes place because there is not enough calcium arriving from blood. This is due to the depletion of calcium bone deposits of birds or the loss of calcium in heat stress periods. This picture shows normal oviducts that produce non-calcified eggs.
