Bloody faeces in rearing pullets

Bloody faeces in rearing pullets: In poultry farming it is common to find bloody faeces in different stages in the production cycle. There are several causes, but trichothecenes and coccidia are the most common. For the differential diagnosis, feed must be analysed and lesions in other segments of the digestive tract should be seen. In the attached image, a case of coccidiosis is observed in pullets in the rearing phase, which was confirmed by observing compatible lesions in duodenum (there was no additional lesions in oral cavity or gizzard, so mycotoxicosis by trichothecenes was discarded)
