Findings in the slaughterhouse related to muscular hemorrhages need a differential diagnoses between the presence of mycotoxins in feed – such as aflatoxin B1, B2 and sterigmatocystin – and lesions caused by an incorrect functioning of the stunning system.

In the case of the picture, the absence of petequiae or hemorrhages in all muscles and the negative result of  feed analyses guide us towards a diagnosis of lesions caused by the slaughter plant’s stunning system.
