Avian intestinal mucormycosis

Mucor fungi (Rhizopus and Mucor) from food tend to grow on intestinal lymphatic tissues such as Peyer's plaques in the duodenum and ileocecal valvar. In all cases there are alterations of the immune functions proper to these lymphatic formations.
